Pricing

Balanced Breastfeeding accepts certain insurances along with fee-for-service options. Below is the discounted self-pay pricing for visits and information on how to check if your insurance may be accepted.

  • Prenatal Visit: $175
  • First Postpartum Visit for new patients (no prenatal): $250
  • Follow Up Postpartum Visits: $175

Insurance coverage:

We take many insurance plans including certain BCBS plans, Cigna, United Healthcare, Aetna, & Meritain. Please confirm coverage as directed below.

*Please note: If your insurance plan is not accepted please check in with Balanced Breastfeeding. Occasionally we can accept plans that come back as not approved.*

Insurance not accepted? FSA/HSA cards can be used. We also can provide a Superbill that you may submit to your insurance provider for potential reimbursement.

If you would like further information on potential reimbursement prior to submission, contact your insurance provider in advance to understand your out-of-network benefits and reimbursement criteria. More information below.

Note: Clients that have a prenatal visit are considered established clients. Therefore, the follow up postpartum visit rate applies to the first visit postpartum.

Potential Reimbursement Guide

Prior to Your Visit (note – this is optional, for informational purposes)

  • When contacting your insurance company to determine reimbursement for a visit you’re paying for out of pocket, ask the following: “Can you tell me the out-of-network reimbursement rate or allowed amount for lactation consultations under my plan?”
  • Be sure to include these details:
    • CPT code(s): email us for specific codes that would be used for your visit
    • Type of provider and specialty: RN, IBCLC
    • Location of service: Wilmington, DE 19803
    • Your plan details (mention your plan type and whether it includes out-of-network benefits).
    • Deductible and coinsurance: Ask how much of your out-of-network deductible has been met and what percentage of the “allowed amount” will be reimbursed.
    • Any required forms: Ask how to submit and what documentation you need to submit for reimbursement (e.g., a superbill or itemized invoice).
    • Time Frame for Submission: Ask what the deadline for submission is. 6 months after the date of the visit, one year?

After Your Visit

  • Email info@balancedbreastfeeding.com to request a superbill. You can request this after each visit or request all at once.
  • Submit the visit to your insurance company based on their instructions for submission.
